# Sync and Data Freshness

> Understand automatic first syncs, manual refreshes, and sync limits.

Portfobit synchronizes an account after it is created and records a synchronization result. The result is the source of truth for whether a provider credential and IP allowlist actually work.

## Automatic first sync

Both supported connection paths queue an `on_create` sync automatically:

* an AI agent creates an account connection through MCP; or
* you create the account connection in Portfobit Web.

Wait for the sync result before treating the account as ready. A created account can still have invalid, expired, or insufficient provider credentials.

## Manual sync

You can ask an authorized AI agent to refresh an account, or use the manual sync action in Portfobit Web. Manual synchronization is useful after changing a credential, adjusting an IP allowlist, or when you need a fresh snapshot before analysis.

## Scheduled sync

Portfobit also queues periodic base-data synchronization for eligible accounts:

* Free: at most once every 24 hours per account.
* Plus: at most once every 8 hours per account.

This cadence controls queueing, not guaranteed completion time. A missed scheduled run is not replayed later. Scheduled sync does not consume the manual allowance.

## Manual daily limit

Free and Plus each include **20 manual account runs per user per UTC day**. Syncing one account consumes one run. An all-account refresh consumes one run per account and is rejected before any work is queued if the remaining allowance cannot cover the whole request.

Automatic first syncs and scheduled syncs do not consume this allowance. See [Plans, Features, and Limits](/guides/plans-and-limits) for Plus/Pro history collection, explicit imports, and valuation history.

## What to check

After a sync, check:

* the sync status and any safe, user-facing error message;
* the account's latest successful sync time;
* whether balances, positions, and summary data are available; and
* whether the provider reports an allowlist or permission error.
